New York. Renowned author Salman Rushdie, 75, has been taken off the ventilator. Rushdie was attacked with a knife during a stage speech in New York on Friday. After which he was taken to the hospital. They were completely covered in blood. The hospital said that his liver has been damaged and there is a possibility of damage to one eye.
According to the Washington Post, Salman Rushdie’s agent Andrew Wylie has informed that Rushdie has been removed from the ventilator and can now talk. New York police said in a statement that 24-year-old Hadi Matar, who stabbed Rushdie, was detained Saturday at the Chautauqua County Jail. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges in a New York court.

The attack on Rushdie was widely condemned internationally. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted that ‘Sir Salman Rushdie was stabbed. My condolences are with his fans. We are all umpiring that he is fine. British Home Minister Priti Patel has also said that ‘I am deeply shocked by the attack on Salman Rushdie. Expression is a free child. whom we love. It should not be tolerated in trying to work.’

Explain why the local people of Iran have supported the attack after this attack on Rushdie. Controversy arose after the publication of Rushdie’s book The Satanic Verses. After which Iran’s cleric Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa calling for the death penalty for Rushdie. A reward of more than $3 million was also kept for the killer.
