US accuses Beijing of acting in a ‘provocative’ and ‘irresponsible’ manner

Washington. The US has made a big allegation on China, saying that Beijing is trying to ‘change the status quo’ on Taiwan. Tensions between China and the US have reached a peak amid heightened tensions following a visit to Taiwan by a US delegation led by senior Democrat Nancy Pelosi. China sees the visit as a challenge to its claims to sovereignty over Taiwan. Whereas Taiwan calls itself a separate country.

A White House spokesman accused China of unnecessarily escalating tensions, saying that “these activities are a significant addition to China’s efforts to change the status quo.” They are impulsive, irresponsible and make wrong decisions. They also disagree with our long-standing goal of maintaining the peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits that the world has hoped for. While US Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused China of taking “irresponsible steps” by blocking all major channels of dialogue with Washington.

On Saturday, Taiwan’s defense ministry said Chinese ships and planes crossed the midline of the Taiwan Strait. It is an informal buffer zone that separates the boundaries of the two sides. Taiwan said that China’s military exercises are a rehearsal for an attack on it. Beijing has not commented on these new allegations. But it is expected that Chinese military exercises in the air and sea around Taiwan will continue until Sunday.

Stop spreading ‘big crisis’ on Taiwan: stern warning from China and America

China says Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan has seriously endangered peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits. China views Taiwan as a separate province, which will eventually come under Beijing’s control. Whereas Taiwan is a self-governing island that considers itself an independent country separate from China.
