According to media reports, Namit was born in Mumbai and studied here. He has graduated from ‘HR College of Commerce and Economics’, Mumbai. In 1995, when Namit enrolled in a computer graphics school, he realized that a large portion of the film could also be made on a computer. He later co-founded the editing studio ‘Video Workshop’ with 3 teachers from his institute and started in his father’s garage and started working in the field of special effects.

‘Video Workshop’ has been doing special effects work for many popular shows of various Hindi entertainment channels over the years. In 1997, Namit merged ‘Video Workshop’ with his father’s company and founded ‘Prime Focus Limited’, the world’s largest independent and integrated media services company. Namit has spread the roots of this company to many cities of the world and has contributed significantly to many films around the world including India.

The company ‘Prime Focus Limited’ working in the field of special effects is also known for converting Hollywood film ‘Titanic’ into 3D and giving special effects in many big Hollywood films. In 2014, Namit Malhotra merged Prime Focus Limited with London-based Visual Effects Studios-Double Negative (DNEG).

Visual effects were also created for these films.
In addition to Dune, the DNEG Company produced films and TV shows such as ‘Sherlock Holmes’, ‘Last Night in Soho’, ‘Dunkirk’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘Foundation’, ‘Altered Carbon’, ‘Chernobyl’ Is.
