Obviously, the end of the crisis does not benefit everyone. During the first half of the year, the rise of online gambling came to a slight halt, with activity down 11% compared to 2021. A trend that had not been observed since 2013, according to the National Gaming Authority (ANJ). The number of active player accounts fell by 12%, to drop below 4 million (3.7 million). “Online gaming activity is pausing after experiencing a bubble. It is more of a plateau than a stoppage of growth,” tempers its president, Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin.
