Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons to stop Ukraine’s progress in Russian-controlled areas
President Vladimir Putin will announce the inclusion of those regions in the country later this week
Kyiv: Today is the last day of district collection elections in the Russian-controlled areas in Ukraine. It is expected that the referendum held under this election will prove the role of controlled regions to join Russia. However, Ukraine and its Western allies have dismissed the whole exercise as a sham.
In the final round of voting, a senior Kremlin official issued a strongly worded warning that Russia was ready to use nuclear weapons to halt Ukraine’s progress in Russian-controlled territories.

The five-day vote on whether people from Russian-controlled territories wanted to join Russia was, however, not fair and free. The war has caused thousands of people to flee the area, and shared photos showed armed Russian soldiers going door to door pressuring Ukrainian citizens to vote. Voting took place at polling stations across the country on Tuesday.
It is expected that the Kremlin will soon take action to include Russian-controlled areas within its borders, and President Vladimir Putin is expected to announce the inclusion of those areas in the country later this week.
At the same time, Russian media are also speculating that Putin will deploy the army to some extent by imposing martial law and closing the borders to all those who are old enough to participate in the war.
