Suicide attack on Russian embassy in Kabul kills 20

Kabul:

20 people, including two Russian diplomats, were killed in a suicide attack on the Russian embassy in Kabul at around 11 a.m. on Monday. Afghan police said the suicide bomber was shot near the embassy’s entrance. Taliban fighters guarding the Russian embassy had recognized him from a distance during the suicide attack and shot him dead. However, 20 people died in the blast and many were seriously injured. The Russian Embassy is said to be located on Darul Aman Road. After this, more than a dozen people lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Herat.

So far no organization has claimed responsibility.
Earlier, Afghan police had reported that a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of the Russian embassy on Darul Aman Road. According to police, the suicide bomber was shot dead by armed guards of the embassy. According to the police, before reaching their target, Taliban security guards stationed outside the Russian embassy had identified the suicide bomber. That is why he was thrown away from the entrance. According to Police Chief Malawi Sabir, the exact number of casualties could not be given at this time.

Suicide attack in Herati mosque
The Taliban government of Afghanistan is investigating the entire incident. Significantly, after the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, Russia is also one of the few countries that have continued their embassies in Kabul. However, Moscow has not recognized the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Despite this, they have agreed to supply petrol and other essential commodities with mutual consent. After the suicide attack on the Russian embassy, ​​there was also a suicide attack on the Gujargah mosque in Herat, in which 20 people were killed. According to Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, the mosque’s cleric was also killed in the suicide attack.
