Deposed ex-president of Sri Lanka, bankrupt amid chaos, violence, political turmoil due to economic crisis in Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapakse (Former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa) is preparing to return to his homeland after ending his exile in Thailand. It is being told that he is likely to return home on Saturday. This information has been given by a senior defense officer himself.

Meanwhile, former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa (73) left the country after revolting against his government in the midst of Sri Lanka’s biggest economic crisis ever (Sri Lanka inflation). Protesters have been continuously demanding his resignation and the issue gained momentum on 9 July, when protesters stormed the President’s residence in Colombo and other government buildings in the capital. Meanwhile, Rajapaksa left the country on 13 July. Now it is believed that he is going to return home.

Let us tell you that after the removal of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Parliament of Sri Lanka appointed Ranil Wickremesinghe as the new President. According to media reports, Wickremesinghe has arranged for Rajapaksa’s return. Sri Lankan Podujana Peramuna, led by the Rajapaksa family, requested to make arrangements for Gotabaya’s return.

Rajapaksa (73) renounced his US citizenship to contest the 2019 presidential election. Rajapaksa took early retirement from the Sri Lankan army and went into the field of information technology. He then traveled to America in 1998. He returned to Sri Lanka in 2005.
