Ukrainian officials have not yet publicly claimed responsibility for the blasts. While the fire and explosion at ‘Saki Air Base’ have raised questions about Russia’s negligence of fire safety regulations and smoking bans in unspecified locations. Analysts also say that this explanation makes no sense. Ukraine may have used anti-ship missiles to attack. If the attack was indeed carried out by Ukraine, it would be the first major attack ever on a Russian military base in the Crimean peninsula.
