Washington. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on the Russian-Ukraine war and said he could not agree more with the Indian PM’s statement that this is not an era or a time for war. During his address, the US Secretary of State said, “I really want to emphasize what PM Modi said. According to what I have heard, PM Modi said that this war is not a war and we are not able to agree more with this statement. This was stated during a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Blinken, Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

Let us tell you that recently, during his much-awaited bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO summit, PM Modi told the Russian Prime Minister that this is not an era of war. PM Modi said that today’s era is not of war and I have done it over the phone in the message. Today we will have the opportunity to talk about how we can move forward on the path of peace. India and Russia have been with each other for decades. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in a joint address that this dispute is not in anyone’s interest. The best way forward is through dialogue and diplomacy.

Describing the partnership between India and the US as “the most consequential” in the world, Blinken said, “No two countries have more capacity, opportunity and responsibility to try to shape the future.” He also addressed the question raised by the Indian minister on the appropriateness of the US$450 million F-16 security assistance given to Pakistan by the US, and said, “This is an ongoing program for F-16s, which Pakistan has.” It has been there for a long time. This is not a new thing, we have to use what is around. If we provide military equipment to anyone, then it is our responsibility.

Comment from India
Speaking during the conference, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “In today’s meeting, we discussed our shared understanding on political coordination, cooperation on important regional issues and global challenges. In this regard, I will specifically mention the Ukraine conflict and the Indo-Pacific situation. Apart from this, S Jaishankar said that we are worried about the price of oil. The price of oil has been our backbone. This is our big concern.
