Mercedes-Benz launched the first make-in-India Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 electric saloon car in the Indian market in Pune in the presence of Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. At this time, Nitin Gadkari asked Mercedes-Benz to produce more cars locally.

Electric vehicle sales up 335 percent

Nitin Gadkari said, “Electric vehicles sales in India have increased by 335 percent. With the advent of express highways in the country, Mercedes-Benz India vehicles will get a good market. At present, the automobile market in the country is worth Rs 7.8 lakh crore. Rs.3.5 lakh crore of this is exported. This market is a dream to take it to 15 lakh crores.’

Mercedes-Benz CEO Martin Schwenk got stuck in a traffic jam while traveling on the streets of Pune in his Mercedes-Benz S Class. When traffic didn’t move, Schwenk finally left his car there.
