Twitter edit button may roll out for public testing from September 21

Twitter Circles feature released to share content with small groups: All the details

According to Casey Newton of Platformer, Twitter is preparing to roll out the Edit Tweet button from September 21. The social media platform announced earlier in September that it had begun internal testing of the new feature. It also shared its plans to gradually release the Edit Tweet button to Twitter Blue customers in the coming weeks. Twitter Blue is a subscription service that gives its members access to premium features such as ad-free articles. The service is currently only available in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the US.

according to a Tweet Twitter may begin public testing of the Edit Tweet button from September 21, citing internal documents leaked by Newton on Friday. They claim that this feature will not be available outside Twitter Blue for now.

Newton suggests that the initial rollout will be for Twitter Blue customers in New Zealand. A more recent report has also made the same claim. Twitter will reportedly monitor user behavior with the feature before releasing it in the US, Australia and Canada.

The Edit Tweet feature will allow users to make changes to the tweet within 30 minutes of the tweet being published. This will reportedly limit users to edit tweets only five times during this period. However, Twitter has reportedly not finalized the editing limit and may change it in the future. In addition, users will be able to amend typos, upload media files, and add tags.

There are concerns that this editing feature may encourage the spread of political misinformation or crypto scams. To prevent this from happening, Twitter previously announced that edited tweets would be marked with an icon, a timestamp, and a label. Users will also be able to view the entire edit history of a Tweet, including the original post.
