Settlement spread over 120 acres

Excavations and geophysical surveys over the past seven years have so far uncovered 300 large houses in this 120-acre settlement. Of these, 50 to 70 houses may have been in use at that time.

One in every three colonies had a valley for protection and fencing in the final stages of cultivation. There are 6 routes to reach the settlement and they used to pass through the valley made for safety. Earlier excavations had also unearthed several different tombs at the site found in the valley as well as in the surrounding area.

All skeletons are headless except for a small child

During excavations, archaeologists found the remains of about 36 people in a pit near the entrance to the settlement. Interestingly, none of the skeletons have heads, only their arms and legs. All these relics are not only of men but also of women and children. There is only one child in it. Whose skull and jaw have been found.

Subsequent research on these remains would also reveal whether these people were not from the same family or clan, as well as determine whether they had already been beheaded at the time of their death, or whether All were beheaded after they were killed.

Matej Rutke, director of the Archaeological Institute, said that some questions would be answered only after a proper examination of these remains. Like whether there were so many disparities in the farming community at that time or what was the reason for the death of these people at that time.

At present, the team has taken all the remains for examination. Their investigation will begin soon, after which they hope to find something that can be of use to archaeologists for further exploration.
