New Delhi/London:

King Charles III (King Charles-III) will be officially proclaimed King (King) of Britain today. King Charles will be officially announced as Britain’s new monarch at a meeting of the Accession Council at St James’s Palace at 2.30 pm IST. Earlier on Friday, Maharaja Charles III arrived at Buckingham Palace for the first time as Britain’s new monarch. After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the British throne passed without ceremony to her successor, the former Prince of Wales, Charles. But he has to go through a number of practical and traditional rules before being crowned as the new emperor. He would now be known as King Charles III.

Royal titles will change as soon as Charles becomes king

After Charles becomes king, the royal titles of the rest of the royal family will change as well. Charles’ wife Camilla will also receive a new title. Her full name will now be Queen Consort. Prince William is now the heir to the throne, immediately inheriting the title of Duke of Cornwall, his father’s. His wife Catherine will now be known as the Duchess of Cornwall.

Many dignitaries will attend the ceremony

The coronation ceremony was attended by a group of senior parliamentarians, past and present, along with some senior civil servants, the Commonwealth High Commissioners and the Lord Mayor of London. Theoretically over 700 people are entitled to attend the ceremony, but given the short notice, the actual number is likely to be much lower. 200 people attended the last accession council held in 1952.
