The political wing of PFIs, SDPI, has been left on the EC radar by the MHA for now.

Social Democratic Party of India: The Union Home Ministry has banned all the affiliates of Popular Front of India (PFI). But PFI is also a political party. The name of that political party is Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). However, the government is yet to ban this political organization. The reasons are technical, yet important. This should not be forgotten.

If you visit the official website of Central Election Commission, Government of India you will find the name of the organization which SDPI stands for Social Democratic Party of India. Interestingly, this party is the political wing of the PFI. This party has done many political activities. There has also been opposition to banning PFI.

The behavior of the SDPI, a political party similar to the PFI, is also questionable. The audit report for the years 2018-19 and 2019-20 has not been filed by the party with the Election Commission. That’s why SDPI is on the radar of the Election Commission. Though the SDPI party has shown total donation receipts of more than Rs 5 crore, the audited accounts have shown Rs 3.9 crore in 2018-19 and 2019-20. 2.9 crore has been shown in 2020-21. But only contribution of Rs 22 lakh has been announced. That too without revealing the identity of the donor. SDPI has collected Rs 10 crore from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with a total donation of Rs 11.78 crore during 2018-19 and 2020-21.

With the many exploits of the PFI exposed, was the SDPI used to collect official donations from any political party? Such a question has been raised. Has this money been used for terrorist activities in the name of the party? Such a question is also being raised. The Election Commission may soon ban SDPI. To show though SDPI is a registered political party. The party pledges allegiance to the Constitution of India. But the party has not conducted an audit since 2018. Apart from this, questions have also been raised on this party after the ban on PFI.
