The plan to surround Russia in the UN over the war with Ukraine, India took this step and supported the 'friend'

United Nations: India has been talking of peace since the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. On Friday, when an attempt was made to surround Russia in the United Nations, India once again supported its old friend Russia. In fact, India on Friday refrained from voting at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on a draft resolution tabled by the US and Albania condemning Russia’s “illegal referendum” and its occupation of Ukraine’s territories.

After abstaining from voting against Russia in the UN Security Council, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ruchira Kamboj on Friday said India is deeply disturbed by the recent developments in Ukraine and stressed that differences and disputes should be negotiated. It’s the only answer. “We urge that all efforts be made by the parties concerned to immediately end the violence and hostility,” he said. Dialogue is the only answer to resolve differences and disputes, however difficult it may be at that time.’

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said that we need to keep all avenues of diplomacy open for the path of peace. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made this clear in his discussions with world leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky. He also referred to the statements made by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Ukraine during the high-level General Assembly session last week.

In fact, this resolution demanded that Russia immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine. The 15 countries of the United Nations Security Council were to vote on this resolution, but Russia used its veto against it, due to which the resolution could not be passed. 10 countries voted in support of this resolution and four countries including India did not participate in the voting.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Thursday that the occupation of territory by one country by means of threat or use of force violates the UN Charter and the principles of international law. Let us tell you that Ukraine alleges that Russia has forcibly occupied many of its territories.
