Shakira, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, is accused of failing to pay 1.45 million euros in taxes to the Spanish government between 2012 and 2014. Prosecutors said they would also seek a fine of 2.4 million euros. The indictment mentions six charges against Shakira.

Singer rejected a petition presented by prosecutors this week instead of facing trial. Shakira said in her statement through her relatives that ‘she is absolutely sure of her innocence’. So he decided to take the matter to court. However, the date of hearing has not been fixed yet.
