Tokyo: Indian athletes continue their stellar performance in the ongoing Paralympic Games 2020 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Shortly after the medals were decided in badminton on Saturday, shooters raised the country’s stature even more by winning two medals. Manish Narwal and Singhraj won the medal for India in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 event.

Manish won the gold while Singhraj won the silver medal. The historic performance of these two has taken India’s medal tally to 15. 19-year-old Manish had set a record in Paralympics. He scored 218.2 marks. While Adana won the silver medal with 216.7 points and Sergei Malyshev of Russia won the bronze medal with 196.8 points. Adana was fourth in the qualifying round while Narwal was seventh with 533 points. India’s Akash finished 27th and thus missed out on a place in the final.

Only shooters with a single handed gun can participate in this competition. Some of these players participate in the competition sitting while others are standing.

India has so far won 3 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze medals at the Tokyo Paralympics, which is the best ever performance. Prior to this, India’s best performance was in the 2016 Rio Olympics. At that time India had won four medals including 2 gold medals.
