Indian-Americans Celebrate 'Nectar Festival of Freedom' at Times Square

New York. On the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day celebrations, Times Square in New York City was painted with the tricolor on Monday and chants of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ reverberated. Along with this, US President Joe Biden also congratulated India on the completion of 75 years of independence on Sunday. He said the United States and India are “essential partners” who will continue to work together to address global challenges in the years to come.

On the occasion of 75 years of India’s independence, a large number of people of Indian origin had gathered here to celebrate. Federation of Indian Associations NY-NJ-CT-NE (FIA) organized a grand celebration here as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark 75 years of India’s independence. During this, a large number of Indian expatriates from many parts of America had reached Times Square to attend the ceremony.

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the tricolor at Times Square. On this occasion, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, New York Mayor’s Office of the Deputy Commissioner for International Trade, Investment and Innovation, Dilip Chauhan, Jaipur Foot American Unit president and social activist Prep Bhandari, NASA astronaut Raja Chari and singer Shankar Mahadevan were present.

Popular music composer Devishree Prasad who composed the music for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’, FIA President Ankur Vaidya, President Kenny Desai and many others were present at the event. Singer Shankar Mahadevan enthralled the audience with patriotic songs at the ceremony. This color of tricolor respect and freedom was clearly visible on the face of every Indian. The spirit of patriotism has been infused among the people through the tricolor campaign celebrating the nectar festival of freedom in every household of India. Along with this, the youth has also got inspiration to do something big for the country.
