Happy Birthday Tom Hanks: Today is the birthday of famous actor, producer, writer and director Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks is one of the finest actors in Hollywood and has set many examples in acting. He has played many such characters which people remember till date. Between 1994 and 2004, Tom Hanks is the actor to be nominated for the most Oscars. Tom Hanks was born on 9 July 1956 in Concord, California. His father, Amos Mayford Hanks, was a distant relative of President Abraham Lincoln. Tom moved to live with his father after his parents divorced. Tom was fond of watching this drama since childhood. After giving several flops, he made his breakthrough with a fantasy film called Tom Ko Big (1988). The film established Hanks as a major Hollywood talent. He had previously been nominated for ‘Cast Away’ (2001), ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (1999) and ‘Big’ (1989).

Tom Hanks was first married to actress Samantha Lewis in 1978. However, in 1987, the two separated. Tom then married Rita Wilson. In 1994, Tom played a retarded man in the classic film ‘Forrest Gump’ and proved that there is no other actor like him.

Apart from this, he has acted in ‘Cast Away’, ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, ‘Saving Private Ryan’, ‘Captain Phillips’, ‘Catch Me If You Can’, ‘Bridge of Spies’, ‘The Post’.
