According to reports, Google is bringing Android 12 to its Chromecast with Google TV (4K) streaming gadget. In its 2.5 years after its October 2020 launch, Chromecast with Google TV (4K) has seen relatively few upgrades. Support for 4K user interface (UI), content frame rate matching, “Quick Connect” capabilities, and a few other small design adjustments, such as rounded buttons, will all be included in the Android 12 upgrade. screen animations that accurately represent how Android works on a phone.

Google confirmed the news in a talk with 9to5Google. However, a precise start date for the upgrade has not yet been specified.

According to the source, when the camera and microphone are active, an icon in a bright green colour appears in the upper right corner of the Android TV, signifying that the device is either using the cameras or microphones itself or an external programme. By using a toggle switch in the menu, users will be able to completely disable access to the camera and microphone using the blocking capability. Users will be able to decide whether to have Android TV match the refresh rate of native media using the Content Rate Match capability. Users can choose “Uninterrupted,” “Non-Smooth,” or “Never” under the Match Content Rate functionality in the Display and Sound menu area.

As of right now, the only upgrades for Chromecast with Google TV (4K) are app-based updates that enable multiple profile settings in addition to security patches and bug fixes. According to the report, storage restrictions on Chromecast devices have significantly hampered Google’s ability to carry out the update. Only 4GB of the 8GB of storage space that Chromecast with Google TV (4K) arrives with may be used by the user to install apps.

Earlier, Google revealed a Chromecast update for Google TV (4K) that will fix its storage and performance problems. The “Free Up Space” button was added to the Google TV Settings menu with the update, enabling users to clean the cache and delete unneeded programmes. The update also contains automatic storage space-freezing procedures that work on (Android runtime/premature optimised) ART/OAT objects and app cache files.

The new Chromecast with Google TV (HD) was just released by Google in India. The new streaming gadget will come pre-installed with Android 12.
