Earn money from solo travellers
Shoji Morimoto told Reuters he basically hires himself. His job is to be where his customers are fans, and he doesn’t do anything special. He said he has accompanied around 4,000 solo travelers in the last four years. During this he has earned 4 crore yen.

With a slim body and average looks, Morimoto gets most of his clients on Twitter. Roughly a quarter of them are clients who hire him repeatedly, while one hires him 270 times. His work is so interesting that he was once hired by a man on a moving train just to shake hands and say goodbye.

Morimoto mostly charges solo travelers to accompany them as co-travellers. Morimoto said that this is his only source of income, from which he supports his wife and children. When asked about his earnings, he refused to reveal how much he earns. However, he said that one day two people meet him. Before the pandemic, Morimoto hired three to four people every day.
