Scientific studies reiterate that the basics of good health and a healthier and more fulfilled life are based on three pillars: eating a balanced diet, practicing regular physical activity and sleeping well. Thus, moving and reducing the time spent sitting would reduce the risk of breast cancer, reveals a recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. The problem is that each specialist – in food, sports or sleep – most often sees noon on their doorstep. “It’s a shame to compartmentalize the disciplines, it is more effective to embrace the three with the same look”, remarks Doctor Laurence Plumey. Nutritionist doctor, she launched in 2021 the integrative concept of napso-therapy and the associated training, the next session of which begins in a few days.
Nine month training
“The objective of the napso-therapist is to audit, evaluate and correct behavior in these three key areas of nutrition, physical activity and sleep in order to limit the risk of progression to pathologies such as overweight, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, even cancers, 40% of which can be avoided by optimizing behavior. It also helps to identify more serious health problems and refer to a specialist if necessary,” explains Laurence Plumey.
Since 2021, some 70 napso-therapists have thus been trained in France as part of a professional retraining or in addition to their profession in the case of health and well-being personnel: dieticians, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, teachers sports, yoga… The sessions (which begin in October, January and April) combine 315 hours of work spread over nine months, culminating in an exam and a diploma.
