In SCO meeting, Putin spoke to PM Modi about India’s stand on Ukraine war: Jaishankar
‘The Government of India has been urging for an early end of hostilities between the two countries.’
Jaishankar said- India will express its views on this issue in the United Nations.

Washington. Talking about India’s stand on Ukraine war, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Samarkand are India’s stand. There has been no change in India’s stand on the conflict in Ukraine. As he underlined, the Government of India is insisting on an early end of hostilities between the two countries.

According to PTI, in response to a question on Russia’s referendum in Ukraine’s territories, Jaishankar told a group of Indian journalists here on Wednesday that India would present its views on the issue to the United Nations. “I think this is an issue that will be considered,” he said. I think this issue is in the United Nations. So I would urge you to wait and see what our Ambassador has to say.

He further said that we have been expressing our concerns about the conflict, the need for an early end to hostilities, the need for dialogue and diplomacy. It was only natural that these issues would be resolved if the Prime Minister of India and the President of Russia met, and I think that is what the Prime Minister has done.

S Jaishankar further said that the stand taken by the Prime Minister is in line with the stand that we have been taking earlier. PM Modi urged Russian President Putin to end the conflict in Ukraine, saying age is not war. He also called for finding ways to tackle the global food and energy security crisis.

Jaishankar said that the issue of Ukraine will naturally continue to be included in all important international discussions.
