Arkansas governor directs state police to investigate incident

Mulberry (Arkansas). A video of police brutality has surfaced in the US state of Arkansas. Three police officers in Crawford County, Arkansas, have been placed on leave. In a video shared on social media, he is seen thrashing a man in the parking lot. The governor said the state police would investigate the incident. In a video that has gone viral on social media, a police officer repeatedly and mercilessly punches a man and bangs his head on the cement floor several times. Another police officer is seen repeatedly kicking the lower body of the fallen man. While the third policeman is seen pressing the man down.

Two of these police officers have been assigned to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the third is an officer from the Mulberry City Police Department. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson said state police would investigate the arrest. “I have spoken to Colonel Bill Bryant of the Arkansas State Police and will investigate a local arrest in Crawford County as requested by video evidence and prosecutors,” he said in a tweet.

Crawford County Sheriff James Demante said in a statement that the two officers involved in the incident have been suspended until the results of the investigation. Demante said in a statement posted on Facebook that it holds all of its employees accountable for their actions and that appropriate action will be taken in the matter.

In a separate statement, the Mulbari police said that one of their officers was involved in the incident captured on video. He has been placed on administrative leave till the results of the investigation of the state police. A Facebook post said that the Mulberry City Police Department takes such investigations very seriously. We will take appropriate action after the investigation is completed.
