Twitter had at least one Chinese agent working at the company, whistleblower says: report

Revelations by Twitter whistleblower Peter Zatko show that at least one Chinese agent was working on the microblogging platform, the whistleblower is set to testify before a US Senate committee, according to the report, citing a US senator during a hearing. The whistleblower, who previously served as Twitter’s head of security, has uncovered serious security lapses at the company. The hearing comes a month before Twitter faces Tesla CEO Elon Musk in court over its decision to walk away from the $44 billion (roughly Rs. 3,49,900 crore) takeover deal.

According to A Report Via Reuters, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley said in opening remarks at a Senate hearing on Tuesday that Zatco’s disclosures showed that the company employed at least one Chinese agent. A popular hacker is set to testify against his former employer.

As part of a settlement reached in 2011, Twitter was accused of misleading the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about the company’s security measures. He also accused Twitter of having serious security flaws affecting the platform. or more employees were working on behalf of a foreign government.

Twitter has previously said that the truth about Zatko being fired for “ineffective leadership and poor performance” appears designed to harm the company.

The company’s shareholders are expected to vote on the takeover deal by Tuesday, ahead of a trial next month, when the company faces Tesla CEO Elon Musk in court on October 17.
