Set thousands of years before the events of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films, The Rings of Power explores the vast history surrounding the Second Age. The small screen adaptation it’s been in development for five years now at Amazon Prime highlights JRR Tolkien’s Middle-earth lore, where great powers were previously forged and kingdoms and characters both familiar and new rose to glory. The eight-episode-long first season is also expected to feature the origin story of Sauron, the creator of the One Ring, often regarded as one of the greatest villains of all time.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power stars Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Queen Miriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond the Half-Elven Architect, Owen Arthur as Durin IV, Prince of the Dwarf City, Maxim Baldry is cast as Isildur a Numenorion. Sailor, and morphed Clark as Galadriel, an Elven warrior who foretells the return of evil to Middle-earth.
The Rings of Power also stars Nazanin Boniadi, Ismail Cruz Cordova, Charles Edwards, Tristan Gravell, Sir Lenny Henry and Emma Horvath. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is led by showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay, both of whom served as uncredited writers on Star Trek Beyond.
