The Game Awards 2022 Announced for December 8, Introduces Best Adaptation Category

The Game Awards 2022 is scheduled for December 8, marking the ninth installment of the annual awards ceremony hosted by Geoff Keighley. Often considered the ‘Oscars for video games’, the show celebrates the best in video games, along with world premieres, showcasing big announcements and honoring winners in each category. A jury of over 100 publications – including Gadgets 360 – vote on The Game Awards. This year, The Game Awards is introducing a Best Adaptation category, which recognizes creative works that reach a broad spectrum of media. The Game Awards 2022 will take place live and in person online with a free live stream from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Unlike last year’s show, which was subject to an invited audience only, this time around, the game prizes will be open to all. The start of the COVID-19 pandemic had limited previous events to a digital show, with special invitations to game developers, voting juries and celebrity guests. In keeping with tradition, the event will be streamed for free on 40 different platforms ranging from YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook Live and TikTok Live to begin with.

New to the Game Awards 2022 is the Best Adaptation category that recognizes creative work that embodies the qualities of video games for other forms of media, such as films, TV series, books, podcasts and even comic books. authentically optimized”. Keighley, creator and executive producer of The Game Awards, said, “The Best Adaptation award is a way for the gaming industry and its fans to tip their hats on creating creative work that adapts authentically and often to the likes of our favorite gaming franchises. adds lore and context to it.” a prepared statement. “With so many game-inspired projects in entertainment, the time is right to honor the excellence in adapting the video game world to other mediums.”

Last year, The Game Awards partnered with Indian esports organization Nodwin Gaming to telecast the 2021 ceremony on major streaming platforms including Disney+ Hotstar, MTV India, Voot, JioTV and MX Player. A Hindi language stream was available on YouTube Gaming. The Game Awards also collaborated with digital creation tool Core to create a virtual Metaverse setting for those interested in exploring the red carpet section.

IMAX will partner with the show to create The Game Awards: The IMAX Experience, a live community event in cities around the world to experience the annual event. Currently, there’s no word if this premiere is coming to Indian IMAX theaters – though we’d consider that highly unlikely.

Public tickets will be made available later this year in the autumn, as official website Gets updated with a December 8th date for The Game Awards.
