Supreme Court’s Technical Committee Finds Malware on 5 Phones, Not Sure If Pegasus Spyware: Report

According to a report, the Technical Committee of the Supreme Court of India has said that it has found malware in five out of 29 phones submitted. Although a malware was found, the technical committee did not conclusively say whether it was Pegasus spyware, the report said. The members who had submitted their phones had reportedly requested the committee not to release the report. The report said the Supreme Court of India is currently considering whether a revised version of the report can be made public.

according to a report good By LiveLaw, the technical committee constituted by the Supreme Court of India has informed the apex court that of the 29 phones that were submitted for investigation, only five contained malware. The committee also reportedly told the court that it could not conclusively say that the malware was Pegasus spyware.

Further, the technical committee told the Supreme Court that the members who have submitted their phones have requested not to release the report as per Live Law. Therefore, the apex court is reportedly considering to make public the revised version of the report. Additionally, the bench has reportedly also said that the government has not cooperated with the technical committee.

The technical committee has reportedly presented its findings in three parts. It is said to contain information about malware, public research material and other material extracted from private mobiles. For now, the findings are said to be confidential, and are not out to the public eye.

According to a recent report, the CEO of Pegasus spyware maker NSO Group has resigned citing the firm’s restructuring.
