Tokyo: India’s golden journey continues in the ongoing Paralympics in Japan. After winning gold in shooting on Monday morning, India has now won another gold medal. Sumit Antil this time won the second gold medal for the country in the javelin throw in the F64 category. This is India’s seventh medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. India has so far won 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze medals.

India’s Vinod Kumar lost the bronze medal in discus throw yesterday (Sunday) after opposition from some countries. After this disappointing news, Sumit Desh won the gold medal.

Sumit had lost a leg in an accident in 2015. After several months of hospital treatment, Sumit started practicing with a prosthetic leg in 2016 in Pune. Sumit started his preparations in javelin throw under the guidance of Virendra Dhankhar.

Avani Lekhara won a gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle event on Monday morning. She became the first female athlete from India to win a gold medal in the Paralympic event. After that Yogesh Kathunia won silver medal in discus throw. Won two medals in the F46 category of javelin throw. 2004 Athens and 2016 Rio Paralympics gold medalist Devendra Jhajdia won silver and Sundar Singh Gurjar won bronze.
