Moscow, Former President Dmitry Medvedev, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said on Friday that Moscow will not halt its military operation in Ukraine, even though Kyiv has formally announced its desire to join NATO or leave it. Former President Dmitry Medvedev is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia. He said in an interview with a French television that Russia is ready to negotiate with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on certain conditions.
According to a news agency Reuters, before the attack started in February, Moscow had made it clear that Ukraine’s NATO membership was not acceptable at any cost. Medvedev said it is now important to give up his desire to partner in NATO, but it is not enough to keep the peace. He said that Russia would continue its military campaign until its objective was achieved. Putin says he wants to free Ukraine from fascist rule. While Kyiv and Western countries say that this is a baseless excuse for war.

Russia and Ukraine have held several rounds of talks since the attack, but no progress has been made and talks are unlikely to resume.
