After this announcement, a large number of youth are fleeing the country. The number of one-way flight tickets issued from Russia rose 27%, according to flight ticketing data from Spain-based ForwardKeys released on Tuesday.
Comparing bookings from September 21 to September 27, the company found that the share of one-way tickets issued increased to 73% in the week of the announcement as compared to 47% in the previous week. Olivier Ponti, Vice President of Insights at ForwardKeys, said: “These numbers are quite remarkable and are related to reports of the timing of a sudden increase in ticket sales. Also, the company said that the average departure time in the country has come down from 34 to 22 days.
Tickets sold out soon after announcement
A day after Putin announced mobilization, all flights from Russia to Turkey and Armenia were sold out. There is no visa requirement for citizens visiting both countries.
