Birth of Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April 1926 at 17, Broughton St, London. He was christened in the private chapel at Buckingham Palace on 29 May of the same year.

When the queen was 10 years old, her father ascended the throne.

On 11 December 1936, Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, came to power following the abdication of her uncle Edward (VIII). She was 10 years old then.

Married Prince Philip Mountbatten in 1947

She ascended the throne on 6 February 1952 on a royal tour in Kenya following the death of her father. He was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953. This was the first coronation.
