Moscow:

Russian President Vladimir Putin made a big attack on Western countries on Friday. Putin said Western countries want to ‘colonise’ Russia. They looted countries like India, but we did not allow ourselves to become colonies. Referring to this, he said, “Now the western country is targeting Russia and Iran. It will be your turn.” They looted India, Africa, China… what they did was drugs and other things. They are effectively hunting people. We are proud that we have not allowed them to continue looting other countries. Putin talked about the Opium War and India’s 1857 War of Independence.

During the 37-minute address, Putin slammed the US and its allies for trying to turn Russia into a “colony”. Putin said Russia has its own views on gender and family issues. Putin said before the formal annexation of the occupied Ukrainian territories that the West was trying to weaken Russia and bring it to its knees after the collapse of the Soviet Union. “Western countries are looking for new opportunities to attack us and they have always dreamed of breaking our state into smaller states that will fight against each other,” Putin said. Putin accused the West of being greedy and said he wanted Russia to be his “colony”.
