Helicopters maintenance problem
According to a report in Italian media Defesa Online, Pakistan is facing problem in the maintenance of Z-9EC helicopters. Pakistan cannot even maintain it because of the suppliers in China. This has had an impact on the Pakistan Navy. Pakistan had bought those helicopters from Harbin Aircraft Company. Now the news is that the company is not even able to supply its spare parts. Because of this, most of the helicopters of Pakistan are closed.
In 2009, the then Chief of Staff of Pakistan, Admiral Noman Bashir, stated that the helicopters were similar to those of Western countries. However, within a few days the helicopter started having problems. The problem with the Z-9EC helicopter is related to the tail rotor blades. This affects the flying capability of the helicopter. There is a possibility of a major accident due to deteriorating balance of the helicopter.
Fault in main rotor and brake system
Another problem with the Z-9EC helicopter concerns the main rotary blade. This blade needs to be replaced after 3000 hours. However, if helicopters are used in the maritime sector, they must be replaced before 3000 hours. Helicopter tires burst in 2018 and 2019. Faults have also come to the fore in the helicopters’ brake system.
