Tata Group in talks with Wistron to manufacture iPhone in India: Report

NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power company, on Monday achieved 69454 MW cluster installed and commercial capacity with the commissioning of the 56 MW Kawas Solar PV project at NTPC Kawas, Gujarat. NTPC is continuously reducing its carbon footprint by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by undertaking green field RE projects as well as setting up renewable energy projects in its existing stations, the Ministry of Power said in a statement.

The company has planned 262 MW of floating solar on over 1300 acres of its reservoir area by installing more than 9,50,000 PV modules at its various stations, of which 242 MW has been commissioned.

“This includes 100 MW at Ramagundam in Telangana, 92 MW at Kayamkulam in Kerala and the country’s largest floating solar installation of 25 MW each in Simhadri, Andhra Pradesh and Kawas in Gujarat,” the power ministry said.

The ministry further said that these projects will illuminate over 2,00,000 homes and help reduce CO2 emissions by over half a million tonnes on an annual basis. Apart from these, the projects will save 5 trillion liters of water per year, which is enough to meet the annual water needs of 15,000 households.

NTPC has become the first energy company in the world to announce its Energy Compact targets. Recently it has collaborated with NITI Aayog to achieve ‘Net Zero’ targets. NTPC Group plans to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy by 2032.

At present, NTPC has 2.3 GW of ongoing renewable capacity with 3.9 GW under implementation and execution. NTPC also has 4.9 GW of renewable energy capacity under tendering process which will further strengthen the green energy portfolio of India’s largest power producer.
