And one more contract for Metalliance. Since the beginning of the summer, this SME from Saint-Vallier, in the urban community of Le Creusot Montceau-les-Mines, in Saône-et-Loire, will have signed, one after the other, four contracts for underground machinery intended for digging of tunnels.

At the beginning of June, it was AFJV, the company in charge of the works for a new metro line in Sydney, Australia, which placed an order for twelve multi-service vehicles. At the end of June, the Burgundy SME announced an order from the Italian joint venture Hirpinia AV Scarl for four modular trains on tires for the construction of the Naples-Bari high-speed line. At the end of August, it finalized the sale of three electric underground machines intended for the extension of the Singapore metro and, in mid-September, it signed for 12 more vehicles for the Sydney metro.

The amount of the contracts, which has not been revealed, would be of the order of more than 5 million euros each. “It depends on the size of the vehicles and the technologies requested”, only indicates Jean-Claude Cothenet, CEO of Metalliance: “For Singapore, the offer is totally electric. For the tunnel in Italy, these are machines capable of supporting loads of 100 tonnes. »

1,400 vehicles per year

An international player in the niche market of logistics machinery on rails for underground environments, for the transport of loads (particularly segments, prefabricated elements for tunnels) or personnel, Metalliance has been part of the Gaussin group since 2020. The subsidiary now employs 150 people. . It achieved 32 million euros in turnover in 2021 and is aiming for nearly 50 million for 2022.

Because the factory is growing. An extension of 8,000 m2 on the neighboring wasteland of Konecranes, at the end of 2021, enabled the parallel launch of the production of port and airport vehicles using Gaussin technology. A new extension is planned, “which will depend on new orders”, specifies the CEO.

“Metalliance has great know-how in mass production, in machining and welding, in particular, which corresponds to the rise of the market for zero-emission vehicles”, welcomes Christophe Gaussin, the group’s president. It aims for a production capacity of 1,400 vehicles per year, with a ramp-up in 2023.
