India Prime Minister Gati Shakti Yojana: India has started taking steps to capitalize on the anger against China across the world. India plans $1.2 trillion to compete with China in the industrial sector. Steps are being taken by India to bring Chinese companies to India. For this, emphasis is being laid on infrastructure.

According to a report by news agency ‘Bloomberg’, the central government has developed a digital platform to bring 16 ministries together to accelerate the Rs 100 lakh crore ‘PM Gati Shakti Yojana’. Through this portal, investors will have a one-stop solution for project cost estimation, administrative approval, infrastructure information etc. Investors are going to benefit a lot from this portal.

Amrit Lal Meena, Special Secretary, Logistics in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said in an interview that the emphasis has been on not to delay any project and to complete it without cost escalation. So that global companies give priority to India as a manufacturing country.

He expressed confidence that this fast-tracking project will give India a big advantage in competing with China. While China is still closed to the outside world, on the other hand many companies have started looking for alternative countries. So that there is no impact on the supply and demand chain. Asia’s third largest economy, India has cheaper labor than other countries. Apart from this, knowledge of English language is also available. China in India Although the infrastructure is comparatively less, it has its own advantages.

Anshuman Sinha, Department of Transport and Infrastructure, Kearney India, said that to compete with China, there are other issues that need to be considered apart from political reasons. He believed that the Gati Shakti project would make matters related to manufacturing more effective and easier in the country.

The concerned location should be connected with railways, ports and airports to implement the manufacturing projects. Sinha said that relevant areas are being identified in Gati Shakti and efforts are being made to strengthen the logistics network connecting those places.

This portal will reduce red tape and expedite the approval of infrastructure projects. Presently 1300 projects are being monitored by Gati Shakti Portal. About 40 percent of the projects are stalled due to land acquisition, clearances from forest and environment departments etc. These stalled projects have increased the cost. Meena informed that at least 422 projects had some problems and the portal has resolved around 200 of them.

According to the statistics department of the central government, there were 1598 projects in India till May. Of these, 721 projects have been delayed. So, 423 project is progressing as per the plan and as per the prescribed cost.

After the Narendra Modi-led government at the center the emphasis was on augmenting infrastructure for employment generation. The economy has been affected due to the Corona pandemic. However, in the pre-Corona era, the government was successful in this.
