dust: The local crime branch has started action against the gutkha mafia in Dhule. On Sunday evening, gutka worth Rs 27 lakh was caught by laying a trap on the Mumbai-Agra highway, while gutka worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from Devpur area of Dhule city. In both these operations, the Dhule police confiscated gutkha and goods worth Rs 30 lakh. The smugglers and sellers of illegal gutkha have been greatly affected by this action of the police.
Police action based on confidential information
The Dhule Crime Branch had received confidential information that a truck was carrying gutkha, which is banned in the state of Maharashtra, via Shirpur to Aurangabad Dhule. On the basis of this information, the team of local crime branch laid a trap near a hotel located at Chalisgaon Road Chauphuli in the early hours of today. At that point the police warned the truck that the police suspected a stoppage. But the truck driver stopped the vehicle on the side of the road and took advantage of the darkness and fled from the spot with one of his companions. When the said vehicle was checked, a huge quantity of gutkha and pan masala were found in this truck. A case has been registered in this regard at Mohdi police station.
Gutkha worth three lakhs seized in the second operation
In another operation, the local crime branch got credible information that an Isam of Vit Bhatti area of Devpur area of Dhule city was keeping gutkha worth lakhs of rupees in one of his godowns. On the basis of that information, when the shed built near the house of the suspect Salman Khan was inspected, fragrant pan masala and gutkha worth about three lakh rupees were seized. The smugglers and sellers of illegal gutkha have been greatly affected by this action of the police. Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar Patil has appreciated the action taken by Dhule Police.
