Hush Hush Trailer: Juhi Chawla and Co Try Covering Up a Murder in Amazon Prime Video Thriller Series

The Hush Hush trailer is out. Amazon Prime Video has released the first trailer of its upcoming Juhi Chawla-led dramatic thriller. The seven-part series follows a group of middle-aged women whose picture-perfect lives begin to unravel when an unexpected event intervenes. Tanuja Chandra – best known for the Irrfan Khan-led Qarib Qarib single – directs the show from the script of Shikha Sharma, who previously worked on Amazon’s Sherni. Hush Hush premieres on September 22, exclusively on Prime Video.

The Hush Hush trailer begins with Chawla’s narration, making her streaming debut with Prime Video. “As kids, we don’t do things we’ll regret,” she says, while the footage hints at something terrifying — to the point that she’s afraid to face the elevator camera. followed by Karisma Tanna (Sanju), arriving at the scene of the crime – an apartment complex inhabited by rich people. The trailer briefly touches on the class divide between the rich and the poor, claiming that the lives of the common people are very boring compared to the elite.

The Hush Hush trailer then jumps back in time to reveal the crux of the story. A dangerous encounter at a party leads four friends – Chawla, Soha Ali Khan, Shahana Goswami and Kritika Kamra – down a rabbit hole while trying to cover up the murder of a man. Plot beats sound similar to HBO’s Big Little Lies — season 2, to be exact — where an unlikely group of women come together to cover each other’s tempers and eventually bond as friends. Understandably, these events cause some friction within their family, with unfolding secrets and lies from the past that threaten to tarnish their image. Joining their crusade is Aisha Zulka, an elderly woman who appears to have some connection to the larger legal system.

The rest of the Hush Hush trailer focuses on the investigation aspect, as Tanna’s character tries to interrogate the prime suspects. It is understandable that women have remained silent despite solid evidence and arguments against them. “My gut is telling me they are hiding something,” she insists, while her superiors flatly deny the claims. “Because you’re not rich, you don’t understand their lives,” says the voiceover, suggesting that socio-political commentary is an important theme in Hush Hush.

Hush Hush was announced earlier this year as part of Amazon’s Indian Originals lineup, along with 57 other titles, to be released over the next few years. The studio is marketing the project as a completely all-female cast and crew, proudly championing female-first stories in the near future.

“Women make up 50 percent of the population, yet the stories they tell and their perspectives are far less,” Prime Video’s head of India Originals, Aparna Purohit, said in a prepared statement. “At Prime Video, we’re committed to giving diverse, authentic and relatable women’s stories a global platform, and with Hush Hush, we’re taking our commitment to women-forward stories a step further,” she added.

Hush Hush will be available for streaming from September 22, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
