House of the Dragon Episode 7 Trailer: Tensions Rise as the Dragon Vhagar Is Stolen

The trailer of House of the Dragon Episode 7 has been released. HBO released a preview for next week’s episode of the Game of Thrones prequel series, featuring a stolen dragon and official battle lines being drawn within the Targaryen house. House of the Dragon Episode 7, titled “Driftmark,” begins shortly after Laena Velarion’s (Nanna Blondell) failed childbirth, which culminates in her suicide by the fiery breath of her dragon, Vygar. House of the Dragon Episode 7 premieres on October 3 at 6:30 am IST/ October 2 at 9 pm ET on Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Max.

The trailer for House of the Dragons Episode 7 opens with a funeral procession, as House Targaryen sinks Lena’s casket into the deep waters of the sea. “What is this brief mortal life, if not the discovery of a legacy,” says Lord Corlys Valerion (Steve Toussaint), who is forced to watch the body of his only daughter burn to a crisp. As the Velariones are a seafaring family, their funerals are held according to this idea – an offering to the sea. The event creates tension in the household, hinted at by Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), who returns to play the “ugly game”.

For the first time, we see Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) leave King’s Landing, as she steadily approaches the driftmark at the funeral. “If you want to be a strong queen, your subjects must fear you,” says an unseen narrator, as Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) is seen approaching the scene. The House of the Dragon Episode 7 trailer then cuts to a nighttime sequence where the dragon Vigor is stolen, along with a mysterious hooded figure observing a chaotic dockyard. “A debt to be paid,” Elicent says, as the house scrambles, even as Rhaenyra points a dagger at an unknown character. “Now they see you for who you are,” she said with tears in her eyes.

The House of the Dragon episode 7 trailer shows Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) reuniting with soul niece Rhaenyra. Will he make a romantic gesture to the princess when he’s out of the picture with wife Laina? Her husband Lenore Velarion is still alive — though as episode 6 showed, the two have lost a little love — so things could get a little weird.

Earlier this month, House of the Dragon co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik stepped down from the series. Starting with season 2, he will be credited as an executive producer for the Game of Thrones prequel series, which will lead to Alan Taylor and Ryan J. Kondal will take charge. Talking to Diversity, Condal confirmed that there will be no big jump in season 2. “The storytelling was very much in the rhythm of the original Game of Thrones series,” he said.

New House of the Dragon episodes air every Monday on Disney+ Hotstar in India at 6:30 am IST and Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO Max wherever available. Season 1 consists of 10 episodes.
