Google Photos Update With Redesigned Memories Feature Rolling Out: All Details

Google Photos is being updated with an improved Memories feature, after the company recently announced changes. The rollout is part of a larger upgrade to the memory feature, which was first introduced to users in 2019. With the latest update, the Memories feature now sports a clean aesthetic, a smoother vertical scroll gesture to switch between AI-generated images. Users can also take advantage of video flipbooks, subtle zoom effects, bolder title fonts, and repositioned photo details. Google has also replaced the vertical swipe with a quick exit button and the ability to create share-links for friends and family called Shared Memories.

According to 9to5Google Report, Google has started rolling out the updated Memories feature to users. The company is yet to release the rest of the updates promised in its initial announcement. The promised bundle is intended to build on user-friendly creator tools and a cinematic audio-visual experience through an inbuilt collage editor called Style, AI-powered story creation and instrumental background music integration capabilities, according to Google.

Cinematic Photos, a feature launched in 2020 that uses AI to create 3D renderings of users’ photos displayed in memory, is expected to add capabilities that convert multiple still photos into an end-to-end cinematic experience, the company confirmed. As social media companies shift their focus to audiovisual content, this update will bring the user experience on Memories closer to Stories and Memories on Instagram and Facebook.

The in-built collage editor, Styles, which is yet to be rolled out, takes its inspiration from old scrapbooks and will allow users to automatically add graphic art to memories, according to the company. It is expected to be introduced at some point. October.

Google One subscribers and Pixel phone users will be able to use additional editing features like Portrait Light or HDR in their collages and access more than 30 additional designs.

The company has also previously confirmed that users will have control over whether certain people’s photos are hidden or displayed in memory, and the latest updates will be rolled out to Google users in phases.
