Google Reportedly Letting Some Users Bookmark Pages Directly From Mobile Search Results

The Google Search app’s Collections tab got an overhaul in 2020, adding sections like a quick access carousel and frequently visited pages to make the app’s tabs a lot more useful than they were before. The Bookmarks tab is now gaining more importance with a new update that will reportedly let users add bookmarks to their Collections tab directly from the mobile browser. According to the report of 9to5Mac, this feature is currently being tested.

For a long time, users on Android devices have been able to bookmark search results or web pages that came up by tapping the “Add to archive” button on the top right corner after opening a link in the search result or link. Google Search app or Discover tab. On iOS, the same functionality is available, but only in Google’s Search app.

Google will now reportedly make it possible to bookmark a website directly from the search results page, whether you’re in Google’s Search app or in a mobile browser. 9to5google pointed out that the button will now appear right next to the three-dot overflow button that appears with each search result. Tapping on the bookmark icon is said to bring up the usual menu showing the user’s collections, so they can save the results to their Favorites section, create a new list, or add to existing lists; Reducing the need to open the page or search result.

After a user saves things to an archive, they’ll reportedly still need to open the Google app on iOS or Android to get back to their saved bookmarks. They can also watch it on a desktop browser, provided they are logged in to their Google account, according to the report.

The report further states that the feature is yet to see a wider rollout and is only showing up for specific accounts as it is being tested. So, everyone will start seeing this new feature and it will take some time to get used to the bookmark button.
