FIFA 23 Ted Lasso Inline FIFA 23 Ted Lasso

FIFA 23 – out this week on all major platforms – will be the last time it carries its iconic moniker, following a financial dispute with the football body. While certainly not sentimental, the new name “EA Sports FC” that will take effect next year will take some getting used to. The latest entry is believed to be a major improvement over its predecessor, offering cross-play support at launch, as well as opening the way for a women’s league – a first for the franchise. At the end of the day, this is a sports game, so there isn’t much to change in terms of gameplay. Fans may keep complaining about it, but FIFA is one of the best-selling sports around the world.

It is evident from the number of people who have a slim opportunity to pre-order the game at a low price of Rs. 5. In July, EA Sports scored an embarrassing own goal, when it accidentally listed FIFA 23 pre-purchase at the wrong price on the Epic Games Store. Early birds managed to snag the deal and shared their joy on social media, urging users across India to switch regions to get it at a cheaper price. Having previously been named the “worst company in America,” it’s no surprise that Electronic Arts jumped at the chance to improve its image, honor all purchases made during that period, and move on. Good job, EA!

In keeping with tradition, this year’s FIFA has enhanced responsiveness and fluid movement during gameplay. Thanks to the new HyperMotion2 technology, which captures data from real-life 11v11 matches through machine learning, FIFA 23 boasts a true-to-life football experience. This, of course, is accompanied by new animations and more than 500 crowd songs enlivening the on-pitch atmosphere. Oh, and don’t forget about Ted Lasso’s inclusion in the game. Played by Jason Sudeikis in the eponymous Apple TV+ series, an American-born coach brings a group of AFC Richmond players into FIFA 23 with hopes of promotion to the big leagues.

FIFA 23 New Features and Game Modes

Leading up to the launch, EA Sports released several trailers detailing the gameplay and new features coming to FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 cross-play

One of the biggest changes to FIFA 23 this year is support for cross-play, enabling seamless online multiplayer across all platforms. This is extremely beneficial for PC players in India, who often get stuck playing online matches against the same opponent, irrespective of the division. The server population is bound to dwindle in a few weeks, and this new update will allow them to play against PlayStation or Xbox systems – expanding the player base.

Cross-play also extends to Ultimate Team, where players will be asked to toggle options at the start of a session. If the option is disabled, players will be matched with those on the same system, resulting in a quick match. However, if you want to play against other platforms, it will take a bit longer to create the lobby.

That said, the feature is currently only available for 1v1 mode. This is a definite for fellow players.

FIFA 23 Women’s League

FIFA 23 also brings together two major women’s leagues – the FA Women’s Super League and the French Division 1 Feminine – which Electronic Arts promises to expand in the future. The developers got two women’s teams to play 11-a-side matches and complete drills to capture realistic data using the aforementioned HyperMotion2 technology. Chelsea women’s striker, Sam Kerr, is the first female player to feature on the cover of the annual football franchise.
