Facebook parent Meta has settled a lawsuit claiming the social media platform illegally shared user data with research firm Cambridge Analytica. The settlement came after it was revealed a month ago that Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg would have to sit in for a six-hour-long questioning by plaintiffs’ lawyers. The terms of the agreement were not yet disclosed. Facebook users sued the social media company in 2018.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, American tech giant Meta has Settled The lawsuit claimed that Facebook illegally shared user data with UK-based research firm Cambridge Analytica. However, the terms and conditions of the said agreement are yet to be disclosed. Last month it was reported that Zuckerberg would have to sit for a six-hour questioning by plaintiffs’ lawyers.

To recall, Facebook users sued the platform in 2018 following revelations that Cambridge Analytica, which was linked to Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign for president, gained access to nearly 87 million users.

The court filing a month ago also indicated that Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg would have to testify.

In the latest filing, lawyers representing both sides asked the judge handling the trial to withhold it in order to “facilitate the process of finalizing a written settlement agreement”.
