Washington: A high level US delegation will visit India on Monday. The delegation will visit India to strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership and support a free and open, resilient and secure Indo-Pacific region. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information.

A US delegation led by the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs will visit India from September 5 to 8. The delegation will be led by Donald Lu. The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that it aims to deepen the US-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

The ministry said Lu will participate in a senior quad meeting with Camille Dawson, deputy assistant secretary of state for the Bureau of Asian and Pacific Affairs and defense assistant for Indo-Pacific security affairs, for the US-India two plus two intersessional meeting. Minister will participate in Maritime Security Dialogue with Eli Reitner.

Free and open trade methods will be discussed
“The delegation will discuss with senior Indian officials ways in which the United States and India can expand their cooperation to support a free and open, connected, prosperous, resilient and secure Indo-Pacific region,” the State Department said. ” There is respect for human rights everywhere.

India, the US and several other world powers are speaking out to emphasize the need to ensure a free, open and prosperous Indo-Pacific in the backdrop of China’s increasing military exercises in the resource-rich region. China claims the entire South China Sea, while Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam also claim parts of it. Beijing has built artificial islands and military installations in the South China Sea.

Donald Lu will also participate in the Round Table Discussion
Donald Lu will also participate in an event with women entrepreneurs under the US-India Women’s Economic Empowerment Coalition. The organization aims to enhance economic security through meaningful participation of women in the workforce. The Ministry of External Affairs said that he would also participate in a round table discussion with senior trade officials.

Last month, US Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Ademo visited India and jointly with Indian policymakers to discuss global challenges such as food insecurity and high energy prices amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Ademo met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra, Finance Secretary Ajay Seth, Foreign Secretary Vijay Kwatra and Petroleum Secretary Pankaj Jain. Ademo also underscored the importance of deepening the already strong US-India relationship through forums such as the Quad and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, said a release issued by the US Treasury Department on August 26.
