Deadpool 3: Hugh Jackman to Return as Wolverine, September 2024 Release Date Set

Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. In a short skit released on Twitter, the actor confirmed his interest to play the animalistic, clawed mutant from Marvel Comics. The film Deadpool is the first film to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the acquisition of 20th Century Studios by Disney a few years ago. In addition, Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds (Free Guy), announced an official release date of September 6, 2024, along with a dead pool Graphic, which is cut from the claws of Weapon X.

Trying to control his excitement over the announcement, Reynolds tweeted, “It’s hard to keep my mouth shut about this.” A clever way to quip at your talkative Marvel character Deadpool, whose mouth was literally shut in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A good portion of the clip is just fluff material, in which he apologized for the disappearance of Disney’s D23 Expo held earlier this month. “And I… I don’t have anything. Yeah, just go completely blank here,” he says before Jackman walks into the background. Asked if he’s going to play Wolverine once in Deadpool 3. Ready to take on the role, he replied, “Yeah sure, Ryan.”

After 17 years and nine films in the X-Men universe – including cameos – Jackman officially retired from the role in 2017. Logan, which saw the barbarian mutant to rest. Deadpool aka The Merck with a Mouth is known to have a shared history with Wolverine, noting that both stories began in the Weapon X program. The pair maintain a rivalry, thanks to their distinct ideologies, long longevity and regeneration factor, which is a joke for Deadpool as Logan’s healing factor can be quite inconsistent and less advanced.

Deadpool 3 is a sentimental moment for Reynolds’ Deadpool, who first made an appearance in the 2009 Wolverine film. The character, who was named Weapon 11 in the film, featured an uneven ending and complete butchery of his traits.

Later in 2016, Tim Miller (Love, Death and Robots) conceived the first standalone deadpool movie, which served as a redemption story for the character. The film was positively received, grossing $783.1 million (approximately Rs 6,408 crore) worldwide against a budget of $58 million (approximately Rs 474 crore). A sequel followed in 2018 – it was critically acclaimed, and grossed $785.8 million (approximately Rs 6,433 crore) at the global box office.

Deadpool 3 will be released in theaters worldwide on September 6, 2024. It’s not clear if Deadpool 3 is part of Phase 5 of the MCU (which should end from lightning), or step 6 (which should start with) Fantastic Four,
