Stratosfair has had its first data center open for several months in Lanester near Lorient (Morbihan). To develop its network of local tools, the young company has announced that it is using Byzence and MyOptions, two crowdfunding sites, on which it intends to raise a total of 1.5 million euros in capital. Stratosfair is giving itself three months to complete this operation, which follows a first raising – in the form of debt – carried out last year in the amount of one million euros.

“We need funds mainly to expand our sales team,” says Béranger Cadoret, the manager of Stratosfair. It is counting on a network made up of around ten data centers by 2025. In addition to that of Lanester, which is now occupied at more than 50% of its capacity, two others are planned for 2023, one near the city of Angers and the other on a site also near Lorient. “In both cases, continues Béranger Cadoret, we are building the equipment that will be delivered turnkey to companies carrying the investment”.

Stratosfair labeled French Tech

Each construction of a Stratosfair data center requires an envelope of around 800,000 euros. “They are created on small land sites with an area of 500 to 1,000 m²”, continues the leader. He says his data center model only has 16 bays for data storage. Photovoltaic panels on the roof are sufficient to supply energy to each piece of equipment. “Our ambition, continues Béranger Cadoret, is to become one of the leaders in France in the ecological and local cloud”.

The company targets a clientele made up of VSEs-SMEs and local authorities. The rental of a bay is invoiced by Stratosfair at the price of 1,700 euros per month. Stratosfair is labeled French Tech and Remarkable Initiative. In 2022, the company will generate a turnover of 140,000 euros which will be increased to a total of 2.6 million euros in 2023.
