Chief Engineer of Mumbai Central Railway caught taking bribe in CBI arrested for taking bribe of one lakh

Mumbai : The CBI today arrested a senior Central Railway official in Mumbai for the offense of taking bribe. The name of this officer is Ashok Kumar Gupta. Worked as Chief Engineer in Central Railway. The CBI has registered a case and arrested him taking a bribe of one lakh through the driver.

The driver of Ashok Kumar Gupta has also been arrested by the CBI. The driver is also working in Central Railway. An official of a private company has also been arrested in Kolkata. Ashok Kumar Gupta was empowered to clear the bills of all contracts awarded by the Mechanical Department. Hence Gupta took a bribe of Rs one lakh to pay the bills of the company that awarded the similar contract.

CBI has seized Rs 1 lakh as bribe. Raids were conducted with Gupta at ten different places in the city like Mumbai, Kolkata, Ghaziabad, Noida, Dehradun and Delhi. In this raid, Rs 23 lakh in cash, 40 lakh gold and diamond jewellery, investment details of Rs 8 crore, house and land documents worth Rs 5 crore have been seized in Noida, Haridwar, Dehradun and Delhi. Not only this, Gupta has three foreign bank accounts. In Singapore and America also, there is an amount of two lakh US dollars in the same bank account. Gupta’s family also has bank accounts abroad. The CBI has also found a locker.
