Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Overwatch 2, More: October Games on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

October 2022, or rather, its second half, is jam-packed with new game launches, giving the new first-person shooter Overwatch 2 enough time to maintain its relevance. If online multiplayer isn’t your specialty, this month has several highly anticipated AAA entries, including Gotham Knights, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remake. The latter recently had an open beta testing period, which provided useful results on the cross-play front. After nearly a year of waiting, PlayStation is finally bringing Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection to PC, allowing a new generation of players to experience the adventures of Nathan Drake and Chloe Fraser.

Nintendo continues to dominate the handheld front, as Umbra Witch returns for the Bayonetta threequel. Despite adding a new set of special spells, the game retains its fast-paced hack-and-slash method, allowing for hybrid experimentation on the field. Then there’s Mario + Rabbids’ Sparks of Hope — a comeback collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft — where the franchise’s iconic characters begin an interstellar journey to save Spark’s companions.

And if that frantic playstyle exhausts you, go for a “relaxing” trip through the plague-ridden streets of France as you guide siblings Hugo and Amicia to a breathtaking island in the upcoming Plague Tale sequel. Then there’s Bloody Ties, the highly anticipated story DLC for zombie-parkour game Dying Light 2, where Aiden enters a bloodsport tournament, only to realize that a lot is at stake.

With that, here are the nine best and biggest titles coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X in October 2022.

overwatch 2

When: October 4
Where: PC, PS5, PS4, Switch, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One

At launch, filtering its team structure down to 5v5 meta, Overwatch 2 will function similar to the original 2016 game, albeit with some new maps and hero redecoration. Technically speaking, it’s an improvement that will completely replace its predecessor, encouraging a faster play style and paving the way for the PvE element, which is planned for the future. The build, which will be released in October, will sport an “Early Access” label and only allow online multiplayer, a refreshed Battle Pass system for most shooters these days.

In addition to updated graphics and a geometric UI, Overwatch 2 brings three new heroes — Sojourn, Junker Queen and newly-announced Kiriko — all of whom will be available for competitive play. The “Sequel” brings support for cross-play and cross-platform progression along with seasonal updates, ensuring new content every nine weeks. How long Blizzard manages to maintain/increase its player base with this new model will be revealed over time.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

When: October 18
Where: PC, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series S/X

You must step into the shoes of Amicia, as she attempts to search for an island that may offer a cure for Hugo’s blood disease. In the upcoming title, you can use a knife, a sling and a crossbow to shoot bolts at enemies. The game also lets you ignite enemies with tar.

The game is set six months after the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence, which was released in 2019. Both Amicia and Hugo must stay in the light, attempting to stay safe from the plague-spreading rats. However, they can also be used to your advantage, solving puzzles, or attacking enemies. Meanwhile, Hugo can use a special ability to locate enemies, even if they are not in the same room. You can also upgrade skills to improve stealth or combat abilities in A Plague’s Tale: Requiem.

As per previous reports, this action-adventure title will be fully optimized for PC, along with quality-of-life improvements, including a redesigned interface, GPU and VRAM detection, and scale slider.

Unknown: Legacy of Thieves Collection will let you play as treasure hunters Nathan Drake and Chloe Fraser, but you’ll only have access to the single-player campaigns of both games. You can also play Gotham Knights in cooperative mode, which allows you to drop friends, in addition to single-player mode. Swapping characters in the game will require a visit to the belfry, which serves as your headquarters.

The game Justice League allows teleportation via satellite, along with freeform city traversal on your Batcycle. According to publisher Warner Bros., Gotham Knights will offer to solve mysteries and defeat notorious villains. Interactive.

New Tales from the Borderlands

When: October 21
Where: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One

A spiritual successor to Telltale’s narrative piece, New Tales from the Borderlands follows a trio of losers—scientist Anu, her greedy brother Octavius, and Fran, a frozen yogurt shop owner who is bound by a hoverchair. Together, the group embarks on a genre-bending adventure, as they rebel against Tediore’s oppressive invasion.

Similar to the original, the story will be divided into five chapters, with a choice-based dialogue system that influences direction – to an extent. Fans can expect memorable vault hunters, psychos, corrupt CEOs and a killer bot that will keep you company until the end.

The switch to Unreal Engine gives a solid visual boost, making its dated point-and-click mechanics a little more bearable. The official listing also includes the “Adventure Capitol Pack”, which includes in-game cosmetics, 10,000 in-game currency, and a FL4K Vaultlander collectible. Inclusion is completely different from Telltale Games, which focuses on providing a great narrative experience on a one-time payout. No separate versions or micro transactions.

Persona 5 Royal

When: October 21
Where: PC, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One

An enhanced version of Persona 5, the upcoming Persona 5 Royale is set to bring new elements to the popular RPG for the current generation consoles. Persona 5 Royale was first released for PlayStation 4 in March 2020, and includes new content and plot elements. You must attend classes as a regular student and participate in extra-curricular activities, while moonlighting as a phantom thief, targeting corrupt adults in order to convert them.

Persona 5 Royale will also feature a Metaverse navigator, which will allow gamers to scale walls and leap over obstacles to conquer castles and steal in-game treasures. Atlus has made all of Royale’s DLC accessible for free on PC, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One, while the game will include subtitles in French, German, Italian and Spanish for the first time. Allies old and new, including a witch-in-training named Viola, will assist her on an adventure through the island of Thule. Bayonetta will face mysterious threats called the ‘Homonculi’ and an evil entity named the Singularity.

Bayonetta 3 is a frantic hack-and-slash game that allows you to take down enemies using a combination of melee and gunplay. Developer PlatinumGames has expanded on Bayonetta’s already impressive arsenal from previous games. Witch Time, Torture Attack and Wicked Waves make a comeback. With new moves including Demon Masquerade and Demon Slave.
