Bombay High Court orders demolition of illegal FSI used in Seven Eleven Club of former BJP MLA Narendra Mehta in Mira Road

Narendra Mehta: Former BJP MLA Narendra Mehta (Narendra Mehta) has been dismissed by the Bombay High Court. The High Court has issued directions to demolish the illegal construction of Narendra Mehta’s ‘Seven Eleven’ club on Mira Road. The High Court today (September 29) while ordering the demolition of the construction within two months ruled that the increased FSI given to the club was wrong. Fayaz Mullaji had filed a PIL in this regard in the Bombay High Court in 2021. This increased FSI was achieved by showing that the National Highway passes next to this construction. But this was wrong and the main allegation in this petition was that the upper three storeys of the building constructed by it were unauthorized. A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Makrand Karnik delivered its reserved verdict on Thursday.

The Bombay High Court has also dealt a big blow to the Municipal Corporation along with Narendra Mehta, former BJP MLA from Mira Bhayander. In the year 2019, the Bombay High Court bench of Justice Ranjit More and Justice NJ Jamadar ordered that a case be registered against the concerned in the case of Club 7-Eleven, which was illegally established after the murder of Kandalwan.

What is the matter?
This luxurious club named Seven Eleven was built on an area of about 3.5 acres with the connivance of the municipal officials by killing the mangroves in Kanakia Park of Mira Road. The construction of this luxurious club was completed in the year 2018. The club is partnered by the then MLA Narendra Mehta, his brother Vinod Mehta and Mehta’s brother-in-law Rajinikanth Singh. However, Dheeraj Parab, a social activist, filed a petition in the High Court for setting up a club on the Kandal forest by illegally cutting down the environment and degrading the environment. This luxury hotel has been started here only by seeking permission for gymnasium. Through this petition, he demanded that the matter should be investigated through the Crime Branch and strict action should be taken by registering a case against the concerned.

According to the Central Environment Protection Act, construction work cannot be done within 200 meters of a no development zone and coastal area. If you want to build, you have to get permission for it. However, RTI activists alleged that the local MLAs had not taken any such permission.
